🌟Space🌟

In class we have been considering Space or Ether element. What it is, where it is and how we can connect with it.

We know that in all matter an atom is 99.9999% space. So it makes sense that we should connect with it, understands it, know that it exists.

When we are balanced in this element we can feel nourished and connected to the world with a sense of freedom to express ourselves clearly. This space in yoga is Universal Consciousness. It is our spirituality, our intuition, our openness to speak the truth. When this element is depleted we can feel isolated, withdrawn and misunderstood.

Our yoga practise can help us to connect with this space. As we practise we can be aware of the space we are in and the space we occupy. How it affects us, how we feel. When we move we create space within our bodies, in our muscles our joints. When we breathe we can be aware of the space between the breaths. That stillness when there is no movement of breath.  When we observe our thoughts and slow the mind we may be able to see those moments of stillness – space.

When we notice these spaces, this stillness, we are open to creativity. We can allow new possibilities, new ideas and solutions to arise.

So today, and everyday, let there be moments for you to connect with the space, stillness. And see what new possibilities come up. This might be a moment to meditate or take a walk. A chance for you to just be.
