In class we considered our connection with Air. We know that Air is vital to our survival. We cannot live a moment without Air. It is our energy, our prana.
When we are balanced in this element we feel light and open. Especially from our heart centre, the chakra connected to this element. We give love freely with an open heart. We can also feel very agile mentally and have clear thoughts. If unbalanced in this element we can feel withdrawn and perhaps sluggish with too many thoughts swimming around in our head.
In our practise we brought awareness to our breath and how each pose feels. We focused on poses that physically opened the heart space. We practised Nadi Shodana (alternate nostril breathing) to balance the energies.
On a personal level, I’m working on giving love freely by making a conscious effort to consistently connect with people as best as I can right now. A phone call, a text, a walk.
