About me
Early years
From the age of 6, my interests centred around Bharatanatyam (South Indian classical dance), Carnatic music and acting. I travelled to India to learn from the best and immersed myself in their colourful way of life. At this time my fascination in yoga and wellbeing began. I was fortunate in knowing Swami Satchidananada, who I looked upon as a respected elder in my family, without fully appreciating his global influence on yoga. Swamiji’s presence influenced my path without my knowing, it would be my destiny to teach others.
Education
I completed my formal education with a Mechanical Engineering Degree (yes I love maths) and worked in industry for a few years before starting my new life as a mother of three lovely children. It was at this stage in my life where I really felt the benefits of yoga and meditation. I clearly remember my first yoga class – arriving with my mind full of thoughts but leaving totally refreshed. I was led through movement and breath, and before I knew it an entire hour had passed. I wanted to share this feeling with others.
Why Yoga?
With all this spare time on my hands, NOT, I took the opportunity to reinforce my understanding of yoga by studying for a Teaching Diploma in Yoga. An intense 3-year course covering yoga philosophy, teaching and safety. To my surprise, I couldn’t believe that the first book on the reading list was by Swami Satchidananada! Yet another sign from the universe. And my journey of teaching yoga, meditation and wellbeing began.
I am a, Dancer, Musician, Actor, Engineer, Mum, Yogi, Happy person ☺
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
