🌟 Whole and Radiant🌟

by Kalyani Yoga

In class this week, we explored the theme Whole and Radiant—a gentle integration of the seven chakras we had followed through the last few weeks.

We moved from Muladhara at the base of the spine to Sahasrara at the crown of the head, revisiting each energy centre with breath, movement and awareness. Each chakra had offered us something unique—stability, creativity, strength, compassion, clarity, intuition and connection. This week, we brought them together, not as separate parts, but as a unified whole.

In yoga philosophy, there is a beautiful idea known as sāmānya tattva—the principle of unity in diversity. It reminded us that although each chakra has its own qualities, they are all part of the same energetic thread. Like petals of a single lotus, or drops of water in an ocean, they rise from the same root.

As you arrived to class I played the mantra from the Upanishads: “Om pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidam…” “That is whole, this is whole. From wholeness emerges wholeness.” A lovely way to reflect on the completeness that already exists within us. Below is a link to Deva Premal’s version that I played in class.

Our practice included a sequence from root to crown, supported by breath. We began with grounding poses and gradually moved into heart openers, twists, and meditative stillness. We closed with a breath visualisation from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.

It was a reminder that we are not separate pieces to be fixed or perfected. We are already whole. Already radiant.
